This photograph by Carl Van Vechten is from the Library of Congress. It is thought to have been in the public domain since 1986, but the photographer's family asks that you preserve its integrity as an art work - no colorization or other changes. Since a picture is a moment frozen in time, it's not like a human being. We can preserve our integrity while making changes, so long as they are changes we ourselves wish to make, eh?
